A brief history…
Built in the late 1700s, Tamarisk Cottage is one of only a few original flint cottages left in East Wittering. Tamarisk Cottage has been in our family since 1975. An original ‘two-up, two-down’ farm worker’s cottage, it was extended in the mid-1970s and in 2021 has been completely renovated and refurbished whilst retaining many original features.
Facilities…
There are two bedrooms upstairs, a double and one that can be set up as two singles or a super-king.
The cosy original front room has an open fireplace while the smaller downstairs ‘scullery’ is configured as a dining room with the narrow, original staircase going up to the bedrooms.
The new part of the cottage has a separate toilet, a bathroom with a shower bath, a kitchen and family room. The modern kitchen is well equipped with a fridge freezer, cooker, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher, and has a relaxed family room / seating area which leads out into the sunny south facing garden.
The garden is full of flowers in the summer and visitors can help themselves to vegetables and herbs. There is plenty of room for children to play in the garden and there is even a mud kitchen!
The garden is secure so bikes or surfboards would be safe and there is off-street parking at the front of the cottage for two cars.
Shore Road is at the heart of the village with all the shops and cafes and the cottage is only 250m from the beach. In the summer it is buzzing with visitors but the cottage garden is a haven away from the crowds.
The cottage is provided with everything necessary for a comfortable short break or longer stay.
